Education programme to support knowledge and skills development for local neonatal nurse workforce on neuroprotective strategies for preterm infants, supporting breastfeeding and maternal attachment through introduction of kangaroo mother care (KMC). KMC is an easy, safe, sustainable and cost effective method of improving physiological outcomes and well-being for infants and families. Using quality improvement methodology, instructional materials including their own produced demonstration video on KMC was introduced into a low acuity area. KMC now fully and successfully implemented across the neonatal unit and locally championed.
