Abstract

This chapter will explore evidence related to the use of stories and narratives to support learning in compassionate nursing care practice. The aim is to present how stories are used to support such learning and what evidence exists to determine development in compassionate caring. The chapter will describe a university undergraduate theory module for student nurses which utilises stories as a key learning activity to develop compassionate care. Evaluation research undertaken in regard to this module will be presented and key learning on this subject will be discussed.
