Abstract
This article outlines the twentieth century history of papermaking on the Water of Leith using interviews conducted with a variety of former mill employees as part of the SAPPHIRE initiative. Until the mid-twentieth century, the Water of Leith was an important industrial centre for Edinburgh, particularly in papermaking.
