Presentation / Conference Contribution
Parchin, N. O., Basherlou, H. J., Al-Yasir, Y. I., Abdulkhaleq, A. M., See, C. H., & Abd-Alhameed, R. A. (2020, June). A Design of UWB Band-Pass Filter with Variable Dual Notched Bands Using EBG Structure. Presented at NTU International Multi-Disciplinary Conference: “Sustainable Development and Smart Planning”, Egypt

A new design of band-pass filter (BPF) with variable dual notched bands characteristic is introduced for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. The configuration of the proposed BPF contains a rectangular-ring stub loaded with parallel-coupled li... Dynamic observers for unknown populations (2020)
Journal Article
Guiver, C., Poppelreiter, N., Rebarber, R., Tenhumberg, B., & Townley, S. (2021). Dynamic observers for unknown populations. Discrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems - Series B, 26(6), 3279-3302. https://doi.org/10.3934/dcdsb.2020232

Dynamic observers are considered in the context of structured population modeling and management. Roughly, observers combine a known measured variable of some process with a model of that process to asymptotically reconstruct the unknown state variab... Opportunities and Challenges in Statistical Analysis of Transportation Data: Where We Are and Where We Are Going (2020)
Report
Fountas, G., Anastasopoulos, P. C., & Boyle, L. (2020). Opportunities and Challenges in Statistical Analysis of Transportation Data: Where We Are and Where We Are Going. Transportation Research Board

Standing Committee on Statistical Methods (ABJ80). Over the last three decades, the committee has significantly broadened its focus across nearly all aspects of transportation. However, the “starting ground” of the committee’s activities has remained... Modelling a field-scale compressed air energy storage in porous rock reservoirs (2020)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Yang, L., Guo, C., Li, C., He, Q., Zhang, K., & Cai, Z. (2019, August). Modelling a field-scale compressed air energy storage in porous rock reservoirs. Presented at International Conference on Applied Energy 2019, Västerås, Sweden

Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) is one of the promising methods to store the surplus solar and wind energy
in a grid scale . In this study, we used a non-isothermal multiphase flow simulator to model a field-scale study o... Read More about Modelling a field-scale compressed air energy storage in porous rock reservoirs.

Design a Monitoring System For Pathogen Detection Using Microfluidic Technology (2020)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Kerrouche, A., Lithgow, J., & Alwis, L. (2020, June). Design a Monitoring System For Pathogen Detection Using Microfluidic Technology. Presented at OFS 2020 (27th International conference on Optical Fiber Sensors), Washington, DC, US

Waterborne pathogens affect all waters globally and proceed to be a ongoing concern. The act to provide clean water by filtration is effective although has concerns. Previous methods for detection and removal of pathogens consist of a... Read More about Design a Monitoring System For Pathogen Detection Using Microfluidic Technology.

Feasibility Study on the Potential of Fibre Bragg Gratings for Thermal Monitoring of Cylindrical Lithium-Ion Batteries (2020)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Alcock, K., Grammel, M., Binetti, L., Gonzales Vila, A., Goh, K., & Alwis, L. (2020, June). Feasibility Study on the Potential of Fibre Bragg Gratings for Thermal Monitoring of Cylindrical Lithium-Ion Batteries. Presented at OFS 2020 (27th International conference on Optical Fiber Sensors), Washington, DC, US

Bragg Gratings were used to monitor thermal fluctuations of a Lithium-Ion battery by attaching the sensors outside the casing of the battery. Results are comparable to that obtained from thermo-couples and thus verifies its potential.
