Abstract
A documentary film about the last years of the Russian filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky (1932-86), in which he defected to the West (1984), and made his final film, The Sacrifice (1986) in Sweden. During this time, Tarkovsky was also campaigning to get his son released from the Soviet Union, a cause which proved ultimately successful. The Last Dream features interviews with crew members, people involved in the campaign to free the son, new footage of the Swedish locations, and newsreel footage from the 1980s.
