CCRS Researchers win CIEEM In Practice Award 2025

CCRS Researchers win CIEEM In Practice Award 2025
Jun 20, 2025

Summary The winners of the 2025 In Practice award were CCRS researchers Pat White FCIEEM and Melanie Findlay MCIEEM, for their article: 'Do survey licenses for otter support best practice?' in the March 2024 edition.

The article examines whether current UK licensing conditions for otter surveys promote best ecological practices. Within it, White and Findlay call for standardised, evidence-based licensing that supports longer, more intensive camera trapping close to otter sites. They advocate revising current regulations to better balance species protection with effective survey practices, ensuring otters receive the best possible conservation support.
