@inproceedings { , title = {Phased Array Antenna Package with Switchable Radiation Coverage for Future Smartphones}, abstract = {A new phased array antenna package with improved and switchable radiation coverage is proposed for future cellular communications. Its configuration contains three subarrays of patch radiators along the edge area of the smartphone board. Each sub-array contains eight elements of dual-band coaxial-fed patch antennas with C-shaped slots. The antenna elements of the design cover the frequency bands of 18 and 28 GHz. By tuning the sizes of the C-shaped slot and the main patch radiator, the operation bands of the antenna can be easily adjusted to the desired frequencies. The most critical parameters of the introduced phased array antenna package have been investigated, and quite promising results are discovered. The proposed smartphone antenna is highly effective in proving hemispherical radiation coverage for cellular diversity. It is also suitable to be applied for multi-user mobile communications.}, conference = {2021 IEEE 26th International Workshop on Computer Aided Modeling and Design of Communication Links and Networks (CAMAD)}, doi = {10.1109/camad52502.2021.9617783}, publicationstatus = {Published}, publisher = {Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers}, url = {http://researchrepository.napier.ac.uk/Output/2859674}, keyword = {Antenna package, dual-band patch antenna, future smartphone applications, switchable radiation coverage}, year = {2024}, author = {Parchin, Naser Ojaroudi and Ullah, Atta and Abdul-Al, Mohamed and Amar, Ahmed S.I. and Hu, Yim Fun and Abd-Alhameed, Raed A.} }
